About Club Night

Club Nights are generally held about once a month at the Casuarina Swimming Pool at 6pm. You will need to pay the usual pool entry fee for your child/children who are swimming. The night begins with short formalities at the Club House which is located to the left of the Kiosk as you enter the pool. Just ask for directions if you are unsure.

Club Nights are a great way for swimmers to gain confidence, get to know other team members and most of all – are lots of fun!

The Club Night Program is emailed to all members soon after the season begins. If a Club Night is cancelled for any reason it will not be rescheduled.

Swimmers will nominate as per the events listed on the Club Night Program. Each swimmer may nominate for a maximum of 3 events on the night.

Personal Best (PB) times are carried over from the previous season’s Club Nights. If a swimmer has not competed in an event previously, their initial time becomes their PB.

How to Enter

Swimmers need to nominate their events by 8.00am on the day of Club Night via the online entry form.

To access the CLUB NIGHT ONLINE ENTRY FORM please find the form under the Club Nights tab on our homepage. You will be given the option to edit your entry after you submit the form in case you make an error. If you submit your child's entry more than once the entry with the latest time stamp will be accepted. You will also receive an automated email confirming your entry. Please check that it is correct. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please enter again or contact the Entries Officer at entriescasstorm@gmail.com

The online entry form will close at 8.00am on the morning of Club Night to allow the entries to be set up in the meet manager database.

Entries will be accepted at Club Night but please be aware this will delay the start time so it would be appreciated if you complete the entry form early.

New swimmers and "come and try" swimmers are most welcome to enter.

NOTES: Please read as there are some changes this season.

  • Maximum of 3 events per swimmer each night.
  • Swimmers may choose only one distance per stroke available.
  • 25m and 50m events occur 3 times each during the season.
  • 100m events occur only once each. IM is swum twice.
  • More points are gained if swimmers enter 3 events each night.
  • This season we have 5 events only (6 when IM is on club night 2 and 5). Even though swimmers are still able to swim 3 events there are fewer events on offer and less time will be taken up moving between events, allowing time for a relay or fun event.
  • For those swimmers doing a 50m event followed by a 100m event or IM: If possible, heats of the 50m event will be set up to ensure swimmers are in earlier heats so they get enough rest before their 100m event or 200IM.

Club Night points will be awarded to competitors in each 50m/100m/200m race as follows:

Swim more than 5 seconds slower than their PB

1 point

Swim between 3 and 5 seconds slower than their PB

3 points

Swim between .01 and 3 seconds slower than their PB

4 points

Swim equal to or 1 second faster than their PB

5 points

Swim between 1 and 2 seconds faster than their PB

6 points

Swim more than 2 seconds faster than their PB

7 points

All swimmers that swim 50/100/200m events will receive 1 participation point in addition to their improvement points.

All 25m swimmers, or if swimmers have not swum an event before, will receive 3 points in total. To gain maximum points, younger swimmers should endeavour to advance to 50m races as soon as possible. To maximise their number of points, swimmers need to compete in as many Club Nights as possible.

Points for each stroke are tallied at the end of the season. Trophies will be awarded to the top 5 point scorers in all strokes, as well as the 100m/200m individual medley. Ages and gender will be combined. Trophies will be presented at our annual presentation evening.

Should you be swimming 25m, 50m or 100m at Club Night?

Once you swim faster than a certain time in the 25m & 50m events, you should be able to swim the longer distance. For example, if you swim a time of 25 sec (or faster) for the 25m freestyle you are encouraged to try the 50m distance. Check the table below to see the times for each stroke. Swimmers with times slower than these goal times may swim the longer events if they wish. If you are unsure please ask.
